How a UBS Whistleblower Hopes to Shake Up the System

Bradley Birkenfeld, a former banker with UBS, became one of the most notable IRS whistleblowers in history for his disclosures about secretive Swiss banking practices. His new book, “Lucifer’s Banker,” tells the story of how he ended up receiving a massive award—and spending time in prison for his role.

In responses to questions about Birkenfeld’s case, the Department of Justice told Bloomberg BNA that Birkenfeld received a fair trial and review of the facts. UBS said that his book doesn’t reflect the current state of the banking industry, and that improvements have been made in the last several years.
