Wendy’s Feeling Frosty After Potential Credit Card Breach


Once upon a time, Wendy’s red hair and freckles may have stolen our hearts. Now, our credit card data may have gone with them.

National fast-food chain Wendy’s Co. is investigating a possible data breach, according to a report by Brian Krebs, which relied on “banking industry sources who discovered a pattern” of credit card fraud. 

Wendy’s spokesman Bob Bertini told Krebs that that the company “received reports of unusual activity involving payment cards at some of our restaurant locations” and “that fraudulent charges may have occurred elsewhere.” 

In response to the breach, Wendy’s has contracted a cybersecurity firm to investigate. While the extent of the problem is as yet unknown, fraudulent incidents may have occurred nationwide, the banking sources said.
