Mr. Thistle is a partner in the State and Local Tax Practice Group of the multistate law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP, and resident in its Birmingham, Alabama office. He regularly counsels public and private businesses on Alabama and multistate tax matters, with particular emphasis in the areas of sales, use, and property taxes and pass-through entities.

A significant portion of Mr. Thistle's practice is dedicated to the representation of taxpayers in all phases of federal, state, and local tax controversy, including audit assistance, administrative hearings, and litigation. Other areas of his practice include advising clients with regard to business license obligations, tax compliance obligations, voluntary disclosure agreements, and property tax litigation. Mr. Thistle is a frequent presenter at national and regional seminars regarding state and local tax issues and is the co-author of a series of charts and articles on the state tax treatment of LLCs and LLPs that have appeared in numerous publications. He is the chair of the Pass-Through Entities Subcommittee of the ABA Tax Section's Committee on State and Local Taxes.

Mr. Thistle holds a Master of Tax Accounting from the University of Alabama, a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from Birmingham-Southern College. He is a member of the Alabama state bar.
