Akerman named litigator Irene Bassel Frick managing partner of its office in Tampa, Fla. Frick’s practice includes employee benefits and ERISA litigation.

John D. Smart has joined Bell Nunnally & Martin in Dallas as a partner in the firm’s labor, employment and benefits, and immigration and litigation practice areas.

Bullard Law in Portland, Ore., has added employment litigator Naomi D. Johnson as an associate.

Frost Brown Todd has promoted associates Kyle Johnson in Louisville, Ky., and James (Jay) D. Schoeny in Cincinnati to membership status. They practice with the firm’s labor and employment group. The firm also elevated Tonya Austin in Nashville, Tenn., to partnership. Austin practices in Frost Brown Todd’s employment and business litigation groups.

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani has selected three employment law partners for office management positions. Adam Sugarman has joined the firm’s executive committee and will manage the firm’s offices in San Francisco and Oakland, Calif. Marie Trimble Holvick will be assistant managing partner in San Francisco and Oakland. Leslie Eason is now the head of the Birmingham, Ala., office and the co-managing partner of the Atlanta office.

President Donald Trump has selected National Labor Relations Board Acting Chairman Philip Miscimarra to be the NLRB chairman.

Las Vegas law firm Naylor & Braster has hired Andrew Sharples as an associate. Sharples practices employment law, business litigation and appellate law.

Eight lawyers from Gerber & Partners have joined Schoeman Updike & Kaufman to form Schoeman Updike Kaufman & Gerber, a 27-lawyer firm with offices in New York and Wayne, N.J. The group--which includes partners Steven Gerber, Mary Pat Gallagher, David H. Ganz and Ola A. Nunez--had focused on employment litigation, general litigation, commercial real estate and trusts and estates.

Bob Dunlevey has joined Taft Stettinius & Hollister in Dayton, Ohio, as senior counsel in the labor and employment practice.
