Brian K. Wright practices in Shutts & Bowen's Corporate and Health Care Practice Groups based in the firm's Tampa office and serves as a member of the advisory board of Bloomberg BNA's Medicare Report. Mr. Wright is a Florida Board Certified Specialist in Health Law.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Wright worked in the pharmaceutical industry with companies such as Novartis, Inc., Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, Inc., and Merck & Co., Inc., and provided business operations oversight to a private medical practice.

Mr. Wright provides legal counsel to the firm’s health care clients on a range of health care regulatory issues including: Physician employment agreements, HIPAA and HITECH compliance (HIPAA Final Omnibus Rule), health care operations compliance, facility licensure and/or permit requirements, Medicare and Medicaid credentialing and audit matters, Stark Law and Anti-kickback analysis, self-disclosure matters, and medical practice acquisitions and sales. Mr. Wright also has representative experience advising clients on professional licensure defense actions, peer review matters, advance directives, fraud and abuse, and payor litigation such as PIP reimbursement and hospital lien issues.

He earned his B.A., from the University of Texas at Austin, his J.D. from the Stetson University College of Law, an M.P.H. from the University of South Florida College of Public Health and a Graduate Certificate in Infection Control from the University of South Florida.
