Men Just Dipping Toes in Expanding Sea of Paid Parental Leave

This was the year paid parental leave benefits were expanded by employers to include all workers. Yet companies are still trying to figure out how to get new fathers to take the time off, as men’s use of parental leave lags behind women’s.

Much of the leave for dads comes from companies shifting to gender-neutral policies, Annie Sartor, workplace program director for advocacy group Paid Leave for the U.S. (PL+US), told Bloomberg Law. Almost three-quarters (72 percent) of 70 employers surveyed in 2018 now provide paid leave equally to moms, dads, and adoptive parents, PL+US said.
